Does anyone use tranny fluid with gas with their diesels to save on gas prices?
My friend does it hes a certified technician nothing bad happens to his truck.. Just wondering if anyone else uses it like this.. I think its 90 percent tranny fluid and 10 percent gas
Well its 60 cents a gallon for used tranny fluid and about 4.07 for gas so yea I dont know what the heck your thinking ..but its WAY cheaper
All the technicians are doing it .. SO I’m sure they know what they are doing. I was asking if you do it too, I dont care if you “think” it will mess it up or whatever.. I was asking “DO YOU USE IT ?”
NOMAD don’t you know the difference between a diesel engine and a gas engine .. They have glow plugs not spark plugs
The main difference between a gasoline engine and a diesel engine is that in a diesel engine, there is no spark plug to ignite the fuel. Diesel fuel is injected into the cylinder, and it ignites spontaneously as the heat and pressure of the compression stroke cause the temperature inside the cylinder to increase. The other major difference between the two types of engines is in the gas mileage. As a result of diesel fuel having a higher energy density than gasoline, diesel engines get higher gas mileage.

Your friend is using trans fluid to run his truck.Well he doing the same thing as used fryer oil in his truck. He can do it because it’s a diesel.A old way to clean the fuel injectors was to run trans oil mixed with gas.If you have a diesel then go for it.If it a gas fired auto then I would not.Good Luck.
……………..
Well I don’t see how adding transmission fluid to diesel fuel would save him a lot of money. Unless he is getting a heck of a deal on automatic transmission fluid.
Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, both Ford Motor Company and General Motors advised adding a quart of Automatic Transmission fluid (ATF) to a full tank of diesel fuel. This was because ATF was very high detergent and it was thought adding it to diesel fuel would help clean the injectors. If I remember correctly they were very specific in recommending Dexron III ATF to add to diesel fuel.
Diesel fuel will burn Dexron III very easily. In fact diesel fuel will burn just about anything under the right circumstances. However I would be careful about using ATF on late model diesels using HEUI injectors. I haven’t seen any recommendations on it. Furthermore, most ATF is now synthetic and I am not sure how it would react with diesel fuel.
There used to be a time when auto mechanics would pour a quart of ATF in a newly rebuilt engine because it was high detergent and helped pump up new lifters. I don’t know if that practice is still done. ATF is mostly synthetic and newer engines have gone to over head cam.
